One Last Pop of Summer Color
We’ve been blessed with some beautiful weather here in the Seattle area, so, in my last attempts to stretch out my summer wardrobe, I decided I had to get at least one more wear out of these pants before they hibernate for the winter. No matter your size, you can wear bright pants!
I’ve always been a little leery of bright pants – if they don’t fit right they can certainly be unflattering on anyone. When I wear any shade of lighter pants, even khakis or light gray slacks, I’m always cautious to ensure that the cut of the pants isn’t too tight to show cellulite or any other imperfections. I actually came across these slacks a few years ago and found that they’re the perfect addition to my summer and early fall wardrobe. With the creased leg, they’re professional enough to wear in the workplace with darker accessories but also fun to wear on weekends to an event that requires a little more dressing up than jeans.
I styled these pants with the basics – a black top and jean jacket, and black shoes. In true Kate fashion, I’m wearing a fun statement necklace whose colors tie in perfectly with the pants. One of my favorite parts of statement necklaces such as the one I’m wearing is seeing how, over time, you can incorporate it into new outfits in your wardrobe. I’ve had this piece for years and I’m always finding new ways to style it every year! So, how do you wear colorful pants?
A quick note about style: While some people, who are more brave than me, might style similar pants with brighter colors, patterns or accessories, I opt for a minimal approach because it’s what comfortable for me. If I were to style this another way that was too far out of my comfort zone, I would probably feel out of place and awkward all day long. Always remember to go with what fits your style and comfort level and not someone else’s.
